A, B and C start at the same time in the same direction to run around a circular stadium. A completes a round in 252 seconds, B in 308 seconds and c in 198 seconds, all starting at the same point. After what time will they again at the starting point ?
26 minutes and 18 seconds
42 minutes and 36 seconds
45 minutes
46 minutes and 12 seconds
Answer: Option
Explanation:

L.C.M. of 252, 308 and 198 = 2772.

So, A, B and C will again meet at the starting point in 2772 sec. i.e., 46 min. 12 sec.

308 = 2x2x7x11
198 = 2x3x3x11

L.C.M. of the given numbers = product of all the prime factors of each of the given number with greatest index of common prime factors, so

2x2x3x3x7x11 = 2272

It can't be determined unless the whole length of the track is given. Anyway, they will meet on the track again after 46 m 12 s but not necessarily at the starting point.

60 seconds = 1 minute

2760 seconds = 46 minute [Note: 2760/60 = 46]

Therefore,

2772 sec = 2760 + 12 seconds (or) 46 min 12 sec.

9/ 9 1 9 = 1 1 1,
2 * 2 * 7 * 9 * 11 = 2772.

For train and distance question this question has inadequate data as there is no speed or distance given, hence we have to take it as L.C.M question.

After seeing this question I first thought, this question might be from TRAIN AND DISTANCE.

How can one know that we have to LCM for such kind of questions?

First note down in question, if they ask multiple number or factors.

Factors - denominators -solve hcf.

Multiple - numerators in fraction- solve lcm.

I didn't get the same answer (46.12 second). I got only 46.2 second.

How you got 46.12 seconds?

I divided 2772 /60 then I got 46.2 second.

L.C.M means just remember that the highest number should be taken and common factor for the all given numbers. I hope yow will understand.
