The greatest number of four digits which is divisible by 15, 25, 40 and 75 is:
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Greatest number of 4-digits is 9999.
L.C.M. of 15, 25, 40 and 75 is 600.
On dividing 9999 by 600, the remainder is 399.

According to the question, we need to find the number which is divisible by all given numbers so we must have a common number in all so we need to do HCF but in the explanation, they followed LCM. Can anyone explain my doubt?

Better take lcm of all numbers i.e. 600 and tye greatest 4 digit number that will be divisible by 600 will be the answer.
In this case, 9000 and 9600 are divisible by 600 and 9600 is the greater one.
Simple as possible.

We need to find highest 4 digit least common multiplier. So lcm of given numbers is 600. It's a three digit number but need to find 4 digit number. 600*8=4800 but I still need to be in range below 10000. 4800*2=9600.

4 digits greatest numbers are 9999.
And the underuse of 9999 is 99.99 So multiply with 4 that will be 399 something .we are finding the greatest number of those so that should be 9999-399= 9600 ans.

15,25,40,75 .
It's all div by 5 right so,
In option we have 9000,9400,9600,9800 .. Sum of the digits = div by 5 ..
In 9+0+0+0 =9, 9+4+0+0=13, 9+6+0+0=15 its divided by 5. So the answer was 9600.

Lcm =600,
Then 600*14= 8400,
But I need a range between 9000 to10000,
Then 600*15=9000,
But 600*16= 9600,
600*17=10200 but I want the biggest number below 10000
So 9600 is the right answer.

LCM = 600.
See the option,
Great number = option D = not multiple of 600.
Again see 2nd greatest = option se C = which is multiple of 600.
So, option C is the correct answer.

Just check if the answers are divisible by 40(one of the numbers given)...It's easy to notice that 9000,9400 and 9800 will not be divisible. So, it's obviously 9600.

The four-digit largest no.is 9999.
And we the LCM of 15,25,40,75 which is 600,
Divide 9999 by 600 you will get 16.665 And Multiply only 16 of 600 you will get 9600.

We can also take 9800 as a base then we have to divide 9800 by 600 which gives 200 remainder and we subtract 200 from 9800 will give the answer 9600.
