Let the son's present age be x years. Then, (38 - x) = x
2x = 38.
x = 19.

Take three reverse number is descending order. Now reverse the result and add the reversed number with the original. You will get 1089 as the answer.

38-x=x means that
after substracting x(son's present age) from 38(father's current age),we will get the fathers age at the time of his son's birth and which was also x.

We can't take two variables because present son's age is equal to the age of father when the son was born. Okay. ?
