Given 55%of total valid votes.
20% of votes were invalid. And total no. of votes = 7500.
So, no. of invalid votes = (20/100)*7500 = 1500.
Then valid votes = 7500-1500 = 6000.
55% of valid votes = (55/100)*6000 = 3300.
Valid votes which get by another candidate = 6000-3300 = 2700.
So answer is (A) 2700.

So answer is (A) 2700.

Total number of vote = 7500.
Valid vote for Candidate A = 55%.
Valid vote for Candidate B = (100-55)% = 45%.
Total invalid vote = 20%.
Total valid vote = (100-20)% = 80%.
Total number of valid vote = 80% of 7500.
= 80/100 x 7500.
= 6000.
Valid votes polled by other candidate = 45% of 6000.
= 45/100 x 6000.
= 2700.
So, the answer is (A).

Lets try this.
Total votes = 100%.
Invalid votes = 20%.
First candidate's vote = 55.
So we have; 20%+55% = 75%.
From the total votes, we have 25% for the second candidate which will be:
25%*7500 = 1875 or 75%*7500 = 5625.
So 7500-5625 = 1875.
An error earlier I guess.

Total Votes = 7500
No.of Invalid Votes = 20% of 7500 = 20/100 x 7500 = 1500.
Total No.of Valid Votes = 7500-1500 = 6000.
By Qs. No.of votes of One Candidate =55%of Valid Votes.
=55/100 x 6000 = 3300.
Therefore, No. of votes of other candidate = 6000-3300 = 2700.

InValid vote is 20%.
Valid vote is 80%.
One's vote is 55% of valid vote.
55% 0f 80% = 44%.
Others valid vote is 80-44 = 36%.
36% of valid vote is 36% of 6000 is 2160 is the answer.

Its Simple, In question it has already given that one candidate got 55% of valid vote & 20% vote are invalid, SO first cut invalid vote from 7500 i.e. 6000 @ 20%7500. Now 55% of 6000, i.e 3300.
Now subtract 3300 from total valid vote i.e 6000-3300=2700. Answer.

How came 45%.
As invalid votes are 20% we get 80% valid votes.
55% for one candidate then only 25% for other voter that are valid.
Can anyone explain it?
