Here, 45 comes because 15 are invalid votes out of 55.

An election is conducted between two candidates 50000 enrolled voters did not cast their votes and only 80% of cast votes were valid. If the winning candidate won by 12200 votes, the losing candidate got 18% of the total valid votes and 26% of the total inrolled votes is NOTA. Then find the total inrolled votes?
Can anyone answer this?

Total Vote = 7500,
55% of 7500 = 4125,
Valid vote = (7500-4125) = 3375,
20% of 3375 = 675(invalid votes),
(valid votes he has got)
(3375-675) = 2700.
55% of 7500 = 4125,
Valid vote = (7500-4125) = 3375,
20% of 3375 = 675(invalid votes),
(valid votes he has got)
(3375-675) = 2700.

Let total votes = 100.
Invalid votes = 20% of 100 = 20.
Remaining valid votes = 80.
Valid votes for one 55% of 80 = 44.
Valid votes for other= 80 - 44 = 36.
Now, if 100 is total votes, so valid votes for others = 36.
If 7500 = 36 x 7500/100
= 2700 votes.

Other candidate got 25 % as 55 % to first candidate and 20 % are invalid means neither to first candidate nor to other one.

Take total votes as 100 ------------> 7500(given)
Total valid votes = 80%.
Total invalid votes = 20%.
Lets take "A" Got 55% valid votes, which means = (80 * 55)/100 = > 44votes.
Then "B" left with (100 - 55)votes, which is 40votes.
Now multiply 75(GIVEN IN STATEMENT) with 40votes => 40 * 75 => 2700votes.
Total valid votes = 80%.
Total invalid votes = 20%.
Lets take "A" Got 55% valid votes, which means = (80 * 55)/100 = > 44votes.
Then "B" left with (100 - 55)votes, which is 40votes.
Now multiply 75(GIVEN IN STATEMENT) with 40votes => 40 * 75 => 2700votes.

55% of votes to one person and 20% are invalid votes 55% + 20% = 75%. Other person get 25% votes. Why 45%, why don't removed those 20% votes from 100%?

No @Kuldeep, 20% are invalid. So 100 - 20 = 80% of valid votes. Why are you thinking of 85% of valid votes?

I think we have to put 35, instead of 45. As total valid votes are 85. Thanks.
