Aman started a business investing Rs. 70,000. Rakhi joined him after six months with an amount of Rs.. 1,05,000 and Sagar joined them with Rs. 1.4 lakhs after another six months. The amount of profit earned should be distributed in what ratio among Aman, Rakhi and Sagar respectively, 3 years after Aman started the business?
7 : 6 : 10
12 : 15 : 16
42 : 45 : 56
Cannot be determined
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Aman : Rakhi : Sagar = (70,000 x 36) : (1,05,000 x 30) : (1,40,000 x 24) = 12 : 15 : 16.

When investments of all the partners are 'for the same time', the gain or loss or liability is distributed among the partners in the ratio of their investments.

Let's assume that K is not variable, and K = 1,000.

Therefore, AMAN's investment = 70K*36/36.

Therefore, AMAN's investment = 105K*30/36.

Therefore, AMAN's investment = 140K*24/36.

=> A : B : C = (70K*36/36) : (105K*30/36) : (140K*24/36).
=> A : B : C = (70K*36) : (105K*30) : (140K*24).

=> A : B : C = (2*6) : (3*5) : (4*4).
=> A : B : C = 12:15:16.

Thanks.

@Pavani.

If you start investing from 1st month to 12th month, and your friend start investing from 5th month to 12th month. Then,

You are investing for 12 months.
Your friend is investing for 7 months.

That's how it decrease.
Hope you will be clear now.

Why months, not years?If I calculate taking no of years the answer is not coming.

The other two people joined after aman, so the number of months should increase, but why the months are decreasing like 30 and 24.

When investments are for different time periods, then equivalent capitals are calculated for a unit of time by taking (capital x number of units of time). Now gain or loss is divided in the ratio of these capitals.

Suppose A invests Rs. x for p months and B invests Rs. y for q months then,

(A's share of profit) : (B's share of profit) = xp : yq.

Leave the last 3digits take (70*36):(105*30):(140*24)
=2520:3150:3360
Again leave the last digit
=252:315:336
We can divide commonly by 21
answer is 12:15:16

How is (70,000 x 36) : (1,05,000 x 30) : (1,40,000 x 24) = 12 : 15 : 16 ?

Please explain it

Total year=3 =>36 months.

Aman joined in first month so Aman=36.

Rakhi joined after 6 months so Rakhi=Total-6=36-6= 30.

Sagar joined them after another six months so Sagar= 30-6=24.

Are you clear.
