As the sentence is "one of the" so things i.e. plural of thing should come.

First of all when it is using term easiest, it should selected from a list of things => plural but option "C" and "E" have "thing" instead of "things" so omit them.

Clearly the given sentence is in present tense and option "B" AND "D" talk about past tense so omit them.

You left with only correct choice that is A. Remember sentence correction is not about selecting the right one but omitting the wrong one.
