Tech Mahindra Interview Process - RCET, BHILAI (C.G), 5th & 6th September 2016.
On 5th September 2016 Tech Mahindra visited my college in an One Day sharing status. The recruitment procedure was as follows:-
1. Pre-Placement Talks- The recruiter introduced the company, highlighting its growth, opportunities, etc. After the presentation, he explained the recruitment process. Post presentation, we were invited to ask questions, it was actually an interaction round.
My advice - Try to ask questions related to the PPT, freshers training, growth, etc.
2. Online Aptitude Test- This comprised of Seven Sections:
sec-1- English language general I (10 questions).
sec-2- English Language general II (20 questions).
sec-3- English language comprehension (5 questions).
sec-4- Quants (11 questions).
sec-5- Verbal reasoning general (21 questions).
sec-6- Verbal reasoning Paragraph (3 questions).
sec-7- Non- Verbal reasoning (5 questions).
TOTAL QUESTIONS - 75.
TOTAL TIME- 50 mins.
NO NEGATIVE MARKING.
There was no sectional timer, however, there was sectional cut off. DO NOT TRY TO SOLVE ALL THE QUESTIONS IN ONE GO, since time is less and questions are more, your focus should be on clearing the cutoff (the cutoff varies, try to score 60% per section). My advice will be to solve 60% of the questions per section and then proceed to next section. In last 5 minutes try to solve the remaining questions. This strategy has helped me to clear the cutoff.
Section 1 & 2 - This section comprised of general English grammar (synonyms, antonyms, prepositions, tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, para jumbles. These above mentioned topics were in format of sentence correction, sentence completion etc). Overall these 2 sections were easy, however, you may face problem in synonyms & antonyms if you don't have good vocabulary. Try to solve the questions which you know, then proceed to typical questions.
Section 3 - This section comprised of Unseen passages, try to read the passage carefully and solve the questions. The level of difficulty was moderate.
Section 4 - Quantitative aptitude comprised of simple formula based questions on Profit & Loss, Percentages, SI, CI, averages, problem on ages, permutation & combination (1-2 questions). However, the above mentioned topics are enough to clear the cutoff But make sure you have good grip over all the topics of quants.
Section 5 & 6 - This section comprised of questions on data arrangements, coding & decoding, analogy, series completion, classifications, direction sense test, Blood relations, odd one out. These topics were majorly asked.
Section 7 - Non-Verbal reasoning consisted of question on mirror images, classifications & pattern completion.
ORDER OF ATTEMPT - It depends on up to you which section, you would like to attempt first. You can start from any section in which you feel you are confident. But make sure you give some time to Section 3, 6 & 7 because number of questions are less and you need to solve the questions rightly. I have given special attention to these above mentioned sections. In last 5 minutes, I attempted the questions which I left. When you submit the test you will receive the result.
You need to give maximum focus on ONLINE APTITUDE TEST, because if you clear this, you are almost selected.
3 English Story writing test. Those who cleared aptitude test, they have been subjected to this round where an image was given and on the basis of that you have to form a story.
- Word limit- 200 words.
- Time limit- 15 min.
The story which you write should be genuine, creative and should make sense. The story will be manually checked. So, your thought and ideas will play a major role. In this round , there may be elimination, so make sure you give your best.
4- Technical Interview - This will be one to one interview. The probable questions will be from your resume. They may ask questions from your projects, trainings, favorite subject. Since I was from ECE , they didn't focus much on programming languages. But being an NON-CS/IT student, if you can demonstrate your software knowledge, you may fetch some more points.
Most probable questions -
- WHY IT?
- EXPLAIN YOUR PROJECT.
- WHAT ARE YOUR SKILLS?
- WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SUBJECT? etc.
Now, it depends on the interviewer's perception. The interviewer may check your patience and ability to work under pressure, whatever may be the situation, be calm and support every answer with your qualities. If you don't know any answer, present your view in a positive and polite way. Make sure you follow the ethics of Interview.
- Be confident in what you say.
- Be clear and loud.
- Make eye contact.
- Maintain a gentle smile.
- Use positive words.
There may be elimination in this round. So Give your best.
5- HR Interview - In this round, we were sent in a group of 3-4 people, the HR will first verify your documents then he will start with the interview. Most probable questions:
- Why job and not higher studies?
- What are your hobbies?
- What do you know about the company, tell me something about the company which was not covered during PPT?
- How are you different from others?
- What are your career objectives?
Now, the HR will check your stability, he may ask the same questions again and again, you have to make sure you stick to the same answer. He will try to make you confuse, but you need to be stable. Remember must follow the ethics of interview.
RESULT - I was selected. The people who qualified for HR round, among them only 5-6 were rejected & rest all were selected.
Tips - Preparation for interview is not a one day task, you need to know yourself, your interest etc. You have to present your weaknesses in a positive way. After clearing the aptitude, it's complete up to you, IF YOU KNOW YOURSELF BETTER & PRESENT IT IN THE BEST WAY, YOU WILL BE SELECTED.
Every day take some time to think who you are & what do you what, what are your priorities. Upgrade your TECHNICAL SKILLS, keep updated yourself with CURRENT AFFAIRS, Enhance your SOFT SKILLS to lead a better life.
