Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - Hyderabad
After reading many reviews about companies I also want to share my interview experience which might be helpful for others.
I attended Tech Mahindra interview for associate Software Engineer, it was off campus at Hyderabad.
At first, there is a pre-placement talk which is very useful for interviews. Then they conducted an online test which consists of 130 questions divided into six parts. Each has its individual cut-off, I don't know exact cut-off as they don't reveal them. There is no negative marking and no sectional time limit.
The interview included online Aptitude, reasoning, and English, essay writing, technical interview and HR.
Aptitude Section was very easy anybody who has at least prepared R.S.Agrawal can crack aptitude.
1. APTITUDE TEST:
The online aptitude test has 130 questions which need to be answered in 80 minutes. There is no negative marking. There are 70 questions from verbal and English and 60 questions from quantitative aptitude and reasoning.
The questions from English were very easy. You need to know the basic rules of grammar such as preposition, articles along with synonyms and antonyms etc. There were 10 questions based on paragraph. It was easy too.
In the quantitative section, there were 15 numerical based on partnerships, profit and loss, time and distance etc. There were 5 questions from picture series and other questions from blood relations, analogy, reasoning etc.
Out of 400 students appearing, 60 cleared this round.
2. ENGLISH ESSAY WRITING:
Next, the essay writing test will begin. We were asked to write an essay on the topic provided by the computer, in around 1200 characters (not words) in 10 minutes time.
Some of the topics were like "Mother or father - who is a better partent", "Should facebook be banned", "What animal would you like to be, if given a chance", etc. Here you need to focus on speed along with Grammar. Out of 58 students from the previous round, 38 cleared this round.
If you can qualify the above two rounds, and you have a basic knowledge of your technical subjects and communication skill, in my opinion, you have 90% chance of getting through. In technical round, the questions asked to me were:
- Tell me about yourself?
- Tell me something about your projects?
- What is your role in the project?
- Why Tech Mahindra?
- What do you do in your free time?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Do you have any knowledge of programming?
- Some basic questions in Java?
- What is encapsulation in C++?
He gave me a problem on series and also 1 question from profit and loss?
The last question was is there a time you faced difficulty in your B.Tech apart from education?
He said thanks. 10 mins later, I was called for HR Round.
4. HR Interview:
It was mostly chit chat. It was around 7 pm night and three students were being simultaneously interviewed. He asked how was the technical interview? do you have any problem relocating? etc, etc.
Finally, 30 students were selected. I was one of them. This was my first job offer.
First of all, I can personally say you that if you practice apti, English and reasoning questions from IndiaBix, you will definitely clear the first round. I didn't refer to any book. IndiaBix is more than sufficient. Next, have confidence, review your subjects. Have faith in yourself and God. And most importantly, work very hard. All the best.
