Tech mahindra Interview Experience - BMSIT-Bangalore, September 1st, 2014
I got selected in Tech Mahindra that had come to BMSIT for campus-drive on September 1st, 2014. The criteria was 60, 70 & 60 percentage in 10th, 12th and engineering respectively. The placement process was very smooth without any added stress.
The placement process had three rounds,
1) Aptitude test.
2) Technical HR.
The aptitude was pretty fair. We had 170 questions which we had to complete in 80 min. It had 120 English and 35 logical & 15 quantitative questions. Since I had done a survey previously, I knew the aptitude pattern and I could manage the time. They had no negative marking. An average knowledge on English grammar and some mathematical formulae would be enough. My aptitude went well.
Half an hour later, our placement coordinators came with a list of selected students. I had to rush immediately as mine was the fourth name in the results and the HR's were already waiting. We were given a form to fill up n also told to keep all our resume and records ready.
Technical HR was also pretty good and lasted for around 20 min. The HR asked to tell me about myself, family, hobbies. Later he asked me about my project and what ide we had used. He asked if I knew C and C++ completely. I told him I knew the concepts & haven't revised for in-depth knowledge. He later asked me about Linux-ubuntu, its special features, about canonical, opengl and also other things I had learnt apart from curriculum.
He also asked about the extracurricular activities and volunteering experiences that I had mentioned. Well, the last question was very unexpected as he asked me if I help my mom in kitchen! I didn't expect that in a technical round. He wrapped up the interview by asking if I had any questions.
10min later they told us if we were selected and to write an essay on any topic. Essay was not an elimination round.
I was the second person to go to HR. So he was pretty cool.
The HR person asked only three questions.
1) Why Tech Mahindra?
2) Where do I see myself in five years?
3) If I am okay with off-shore placements?
He didn't ask me about the essay where-as he did question to my friends. He just took my records and told me that I can leave.
Somewhere around 8pm, they announced the list of selected candidates which included my name too!
It was really smooth and I didn't have to worry much. Main thing is to stay calm and confident.
