Hello Everyone,

I attended TechMahindra campus recruitment drive in assam engineering college Guwahati. It was a pool campus drive in which the participating institutes were NIT Nagaland, NIT Manipur, NIT Sikkim, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Mizoram, NIT Arunachal Pradesh and NERIST. A total of 103 students participated in the drive. The procedures went on as under:

1st round: Written test

If you clear this round you have 75% chance of getting selected. A lot of students get eliminated in this round so make sure you are well prepared to tackle the questions.

Total there will be 170 questions and the time limit is 80 minutes (you have to be fast since you get less than 30 secs for each question). There is a separate cutoff for english section and for the aptitude section

English 100 ques:

1) Tenses.
2) Prepositions.
3) Subject verb agreement.
4) Confusable words.
5) Articles.
6) Building verbiages.
7) Spotting errors.
8) Unseen passages.
9) Sentence completion.

Go through English grammar and composition by wren and martin and you are good to go !

Aptitude 70 ques:

1) Verbal and nonverbal reasoning 55 questions; The questions cover a variety of topics like pattern finding, number series, coding and decoding, blood relations, analogies, etc.

2) Quantitative aptitude 15 questions; You need not worry a lot for this section. Prepare simple and compound interest, stocks and shares, Averages, Profit and loss, Ages, speed of trains. RS agarwal is more than enough.

Out of 103 students 55 cleared the written test and moved on to the next round. Selected students were given to fill up the forms and write a short essay on a given topic. This is a non elimination round and the essay is mostly asked to judge our expressions and way of writing. My topic was "Does luck play an important role in our lives ?"

After writing the essay the interview began. Due to time constraints the Technical and HR round was taken at the same time. The HRs were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable.

HR: Hi indranil.
Me: Hello sir (shook hands).

HR:So are u nervous?
Me: Not at all sir.

HR: Ok tell me about yourself?
Me: Told.

HR: Why did you choose to study EEE?
Me: Told.

HR: What are your favorite subjects?
Me: Told.

Next they asked a couple of questions from those subjects which were very easy. Just the basics.

HR: Coming to your essay I have noticed that you write in a more philosophical aspect. Any specific reason?
Me: Told.

HR: So if you are selected today would you consider it as your luck or your hard work?
Me: I would consider it as my hard work sir.

Then they gave me 3 puzzles to solve which tested the basic analytical skill set. The puzzles were little bit tricky but you have to keep trying even if you can't solve because they check whether you try or not. I managed to solve 2 out of 3. On the whole they were smiling till the end. Then that was the end of the interview and I was asked to wait outside.

After about an hour they completed the interview of batch 1 consisting of 20 students and they came out to declare the results. 11 students got selected finally and I was one of them ! cheers !

My advice to all the prospective candidates is keep calm and be confident in yourself. And yes special thanks to IndiaBix for helping me in every step.

Best of luck guys !
