Tech Mahindra - VVIT Guntur , January 22, 2014
We were informed that TechM is going to visit our campus in 10 days.
The whole interview procedure consists 3 rounds. Written, TR and HR.
Written was an 80 min exam containing 170 bits divided into different sections.
And there is a sectional cut-off for quant and English. And English will be the deciding factor for everyone as many people will be thorough with Quant topics.
The quant topics that have to be more concentrated are:
Clocks, Calendars, Partnership, profit and loss, Ages, SI and CI, Ratios and Proportions, Boats and Streams, Trains, Time and distance, Time and work, Allegation and mixture.
And in English Importance must be given to topics on Articles, Prepositions, Synonyms and Antonyms, Tenses, Sentence construction, Confusable words, and Subject- verb agreement.
And then in Reasoning " Blood relations, Number series, Letter series, Odd man out, Letter analogy, Syllogism, Puzzles, coding and decoding, data sufficiency, classification, directions.
The cut off\'s were generally expected to be 50/70 in aptitude and 60/100 in English.
Time management is very much important and better to start with English.
Remember very few people will be shortlisted in this round and most of the elimination is Done. If you clear the written then You will have maximum probability to get it into the company now 300 people wrote the exam in our college and 92 were shortlisted.
Then there is a general essay writing (Important for HR) Here they test our writing skills and HR goes through the essay for sure. My topics were- India is an integrated country or not?, talented people can be found in rural or in urban areas?
For me TR and HR were conducted at the same time:
My questions were:
- Ashok Tell me about you?
- What are your strengths and weakness?
- How do you try to overcome your weakness?
- Why do you want to join in TechM?
Then he went through my resume thoroughly and asked me so you are from ECE tell me the difference between microprocessor and a microcontroller. (Everyone knows the answer but how unique your answer will be at that point of time matters a lot. ) Then he asked me about registers in MPMC and Computer networks (OSI layers and their functions). Then he asked whether I can relocate anywhere in India and I said yes. They test our communication skills, vocabulary, sentence construction, spontaneity, and fluency. You should be confident while answering the questions and maintain a smile throughout the interview. This entire thing took around 30 min for me.
52 were selected finally.
All the best :).
