Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Hyderabad, December 2, 2015.
I would say one thing that never loose your hope. If you work hard then definitely you will reach your goal. I am a 2015 passed out student in ECE stream. It will be very tough if you will not get placed in campus placements. I could not get a job in my campus placements. I would suggest to practice aptitude from R. S. Aggarwal and be perfect in C that would be enough for getting a job in campus placements. But once you come out of your college the competition will be very high and you need to learn at-least one new technology.
I have attended more than 30 companies but could not clear.
Coming to TCS, this is the second time I have attended. In march I have attended but could not clear the written test. In TCS you need to concentrate mainly on email writing. You will find different examples in campus gate go through them and important thing is that you need to practice writing mails. Keep a timer and practice it would really help. Coming to aptitude go through previous papers, solve as many questions as possible. The main topics are profit and loss, percentages, areas, simple and compound interest, Number system, Probability.
TCS will mostly cover all the topics in Quants. And you have negative marking in TCS so don't guess the answers.
Coming to the interview you will be having 3 interviews.
1) Technical Interview.
2) Managerial Round.
Sometimes both TR+MR will be one round.
I have attended the written test on December 2. Results were out after a week. I had 3 days to prepare for the interview. I have learnt Java for 5 months. So I have mainly concentrated on Java, C and some HR questions.
In interview the first thing they see is confidence. So if you don't know any answer just say them that you don't know it. Don't try to bluff them they will surely catch you. And prepare for the basic questions like tell me about yourself, why should I hire you and if you are form non-IT then you can expect questions such as Why software field?
In my TR+MR they have asked me to write a program. They just asked me to write the logic. I wrote only half and I have explained the logic. He gave me only 2 mins to write the program. Next he had asked 2 puzzles. They were not that tough but he gave me only 1 min for each puzzle. I could not solve them, later he asked me about my strengths, weakness. I would say it was a stress interview. It went around 20 mins.
They have announced the results after 2hrs. Actually I was sure that I will not clear it because I could not solve the puzzles but I think he observed the approach and not the answer. My name was there and they said the HR would be the next day. The main thing you require in off campus is patience. They said us to report by 9 am the next day. But my name was called around 5. As soon as I went in the HR asked me to give my resume and the first thing he asked me was why should I hire you?? Then he asked me are you Ok with any location, any domain and about the bond. Then he asked me whether I have any questions. Then he asked me to leave.
Go through the companies profile before attending the interview. In some panels the technical interview went around 40-50 mins also. Don't panic just be yourself and one more thing is that just go through your core subjects also just have an idea on every subject.
I would say before going to the interview stand before mirror and prepare some basic questions like tell me about yourself. Because this the first question in any interview and if you answer it with confidence it will surely have good impact.
As soon as you enter wish the interviewers and while coming out also wish them.
They said the results will be announced after 10 days and by gods grace I got the offer letter today. I am so happy today.
