Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - 13th March, Kolkata Gitanjali Park

Posted By : Soumya Saha Rating : +24, -1
Hi, everyone I am a student of Narula Institute Of technology. I have attended the TCS offcampus drive for 2015 batch. I am sharing my interview experience in order to help you out. It was a very long process for us. The selection process is as follows:

1) Aptitude Test.
2) Tech Interview.
3) MR.
4) HR.

First round was aptitude test which consisted of 30 questions including 2 star mark questions. It was held all over India on 20th Feb, 2015. My test venue was at CIEM, kolkata. The questions were from mainly normal genre time distance, time and work, number system, probability, perm comb. In order to get through this round I practised Arun sharma, M4maths. Most of the screening is done in this round. I personally attempted 23 questions (1 star mark included) On 25th feb results were declared I was selected for next round.

On 13th march, 2015 I was scheduled for interview at Gitanjali park, kolkata. In my panel there were 2 people. Basically it was a combination of Tech+MR round. Questions were kept very simple.

1) Tell me about yourself, Why TCS, What are your hobbies etc.

As I mentioned I love sketching cartoons they asked name 5 Walt disney cartoon characters. I could name only 2.
Then they started firing technical questions.

2) What are the concepts of OOPs?

3) What is your favourite subject?
(always mention name of subjects like Object oriented programming not JAVA as it is a programming language not a subject)

4) What is interface, abstract class? Difference between them.
[told].

5) Why final field is used in interface?
[told].

6) What is polymorphism, overriding?
[told].

7) Give me 3 reasons why tcs should select you.
(I mentioned I love programming as one. Then they started asking programs)

They asked me to write 2 programs:

* Check palindrome taking any input from user.
* fibonacci series using recursion.

I also mentioned TCS is my dream company. So the manager asked me Will you be disappointed if you Don't get into TCS?

I said yes sir, but I would hone my coding skills and upgrade myself for next time.

8) Do you have any alternate offers? which company?
[told].

9) Rate this Interview.
[told 8].

At last he said thank you. Don't get disappointed if you don't make into TCS. It was weird but I shook hands and left the room.

After few minutes of wait they declared I have to go for the HR round.

Hr round seemed formality. In front of 4 HR's 15 people gave the interview together. I was only asked about what is your final year project, any alternate offers, you are having an offer then why TCS, bond policy, location constraint if any.

I was done with HR. After a long wait on 27th March, 2015 I luckily landed on the other side. They mailed me the offer letter as I was selected for TCS. Now I could finally say YES I am a TCSer! Hope this experience helps. See you at TCS :-)
