Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Hyderabad, March 25 2014

Posted By : Bharat Rating : +183, -6
Hello everyone this is Bharat, I'm from IT branch.

TCS gave a wonderful opportunity for all the aspiring freshers to apply as an off campus applicant. I registered in their website like other students, got my Hall ticket after few days and then wrote an online Aptitude Exam on 8th march 2014.

Aptitude was a bit tricky.

IT had 3 sections:

1. Email writing (only by using the words they give).
2. Quantitative section (28 questions).
3. Quantitative (2 questions) this section had more marks than the previous one.

Most of the questions were from probability, time and work, speed & distance. There was also negative marking I attempted only those, for which I was sure. Cleared the aptitude and got a mail for interview at Hyderabad TCS on 15th march 2014.

There were almost 60 panels, my panel was 24th. My reporting time was 2pm but because of huge rush my interview started at 4pm.

Interview had 2 Rounds TR (Technical round) + MR (Managerial Round) those who cleared this round will be obviously sent for HR.

My TR and MR interview.

Me: May I get in sir?

Interviewer: Yes come in.
Me: Thank you sir!

Me: Good evening sir (Greeted both of them separately).

Interviewer (smiled) : Good evening have a seat, How was your day?
Me (smiled) : It was nice sir.

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself?
Me: Told.

They checked my resume.

Interviewer: So bharat as per your resume you are good in c, c++ and java am I correct?
Me (got a bit nervous, but smiled and said) : Yes sir!

Interviewer: Rate yourself in Java from 1 to 10 and justify.
Me: Told.  (they had an argument but I was firm on my answer).

Interviewer: What did you learn from your project?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Which technology did you use and why?
Me: Told.

I was asked questions regarding my mini project and main project.

Some technical questions like class, Abstract class, linked lists, JDBC connections, interfaces, Constructors, Pointers, Stacks, Queues.

Then another interviewer asked questions regarding managerial round.

Interviewer: How can you manage yourself working as a team?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: What if there are any collisions or misunderstandings between you and other members?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: What if any of the team member denies to do the work allocated for you both?
Me: Told.

Interviewer: Consider me as your team mate and I'm not working properly now how will you motivate me for the assigned work!
Me: Told.  (many arguments were made by both of them on this question).

During many questions they tried to prove me wrong for my answer, but all through the interview I maintained smile on my face and I was confident with my answers. I didn't show them any kind of tension on my face.

My technical interview was conducted for almost 40 mins. After interview we were made to wait for the results. Got the result and I made it for HR. I again had to wait for HR.

It was 5.30pm and my name was called.

HR was a lady! Took a deep breath and went.

Me: May I get in madam?

HR: Yes come in.
Me: Thank you mam.

HR: Have a seat. Can I have your CV?
Me: Gave.

HR: Tell me about yourself?
Me: Told.

HR: So what are your recent achievements and failures?
Me: Told.

HR: Which one is easier? to work as a team member or to be the team leader?
Me: Told by giving examples.  (She was impressed with my answer).

HR: What do you do in your free time bharat?
Me: I watch news madam.

HR: What's the current news going on ?
Me: A Malaysian airline flight had been missing madam, Creating a big mystery! and politics are obvious as elections are very soon.

HR: Why should I hire you?
Me (I was expecting this question) : Told the answer with a smile.

HR: What if I place you in Lucknow or somewhere in North India? are you willing to relocate?
Me: Told that I can work any where and I'm very much flexible in any environment.

HR: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Me: Told.

HR: Who is your role model? what made you to idolize him?
Me: Told.

HR (smiled) : Are you aware of TCS bond agreement?
Me: No madam.

Then She explained.

HR: Do you have any queries bharat?
Me: Thank you for the opportunity madam but I don't have any queries. It was my pleasure speaking with you madam.

It was done! my HR round was conducted for 20mins.

There were some expected questions like tell about TCS? who are the competitors of TCS? what if I you are not selected today? Why only TCS?

Waited for the selection results. Got a mail on 27th march 2014 from them. Yes I made it.

My suggestion during interview is don't get stressed or tensed even if they make you Just keep smiling, be confident on whatever you speak even if it is not correct.

They will only check whether are you confident and strong enough to make it through.

I Hope this experience will help you! All the very best : ).
