Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Vijayawada, November 28, 2013

We had our PI's on 27th and 28th of November and I had my PI on 28th. Some panels had both TR and HR simultaneously and some had two different rounds. I was in Panel 5 where I had to face two rounds. First was the TR, where there were 3 members and then HR with just one member.

I was called in the evening around 1600 hrs and I entered and wished them and I gave my resume and I was offered to sit. They asked my name and then the regular question 'Tell me about yourself'. I started with my name and I said a quote which I follow (Albert Einstein's one). I explained it and after explaining, they had a smile on their faces (because it is a bit funny quote) , then I told about my academic details and the reason for me to choose IT as my stream (again they got impressed by my reason).

Then I started to say about my projects, then I was stopped and I was asked about the idea of the project and everything. I started explaining about my project (because  I was waiting for that moment), my team and the reason to do the project, who gave the requirements and how we started and all. I took some screen shots of my project (thanks to Ritwick for the suggestion) and I asked whether I could show them for which they accepted.

Then I started to explain my project with my screen shots and they really got impressed. They asked whether my 2 projects are being implemented or not, for which I answered "one of that is being implemented". They wanted to see it, but the unfortunate thing was, our college's CSE department's server was put down due to which I was unable to show (coz the project is an Intranet portal).

I said, "I have the project in my pen drive, Can I bring" but they denied and then I continued about my project again. Then at last I was asked a few questions about my project's team, how did we share our work etcetera. Then I was asked a few general questions like, What is your mother? What is your father? Any plans for higher studies? Relocatable? That's it.

They spoke with each other for a couple of seconds and then one of them said, "Nice meeting you sravan (had a hand shake) " and then they asked me, whether they can take my resume. I gave them my resume and returned.

After 5 minutes I was called for HR and the funniest part is, I was asked a couple of Technical questions in the HR.

I was called and she offered me to take a seat. She asked my name and asked, what is a NULL pointer and what is hashing. I answered them and then again regular questions. What is your mother? What is your father? Any siblings? I told about my sister who woks with the TCSL. She asked a couple of questions about her by opening her profile (Is she in her project or not? when did she join? which college? etc..).

Then she saw my resume and asked me about my passion and about my percentage in 10th (I got 69.2 in 10th and 81 in B-TECH). I explained the reason then I was asked, Any plans for higher studies? Relocatable? and then If you are into the TCSL Hyderabad, then where would your mother stay? Then, what did your sister suggest for this Interview? about my CET rank and that's it. I was asked to leave!

We waited for 3 days and we got our results on the 1st December 2013 and I am in!
