Tata Consultancy Services - SRM UNIVERSITY, Chennai, Sept 29, 2013.
We had a campus drive held by "TCS" from 25th sept to 28th sept.
More than 4000 students have attended for written test. out of which only 1800 were shortlisted for interview and finally 1154 were selected naming me among them.
Cutoff for applying for Drive is 60% in all your academics.
For those who have % above 75 in all academics as well as 85% in the last academic(which u r pursuing currently) will be having only two rounds and the remaining will be having all three rounds namely.
1. Verbal test & Aptitude Test- (10min+80min).
2. Technical Interview.
3. Personal Interview.
Friends TCS has now changed it's Database of questions and the pattern has also changed.. So leave all the old question papers.. Try working all concepts and make sure you go through current pattern recent question papers.
The new pattern has a verbal test for 10min in which they will be giving you some phrases and explains you the situation and asks you to write a passage containing not less than 50 words... friends please don't ignore this test as this is the reason were most of my friends got rejected.
Next is the aptitude test, which is not that easy as it being in old TCS patterns. well.. you have to really work hard to get past through aptitude.they will be concentrating mostly on concepts like Time & Work, Speed and distance, permutation and combinations, probability, profit and loss, percentages, averages, numbers, allegations and mixtures etc..
Most frequently asked topics are:
6-9 Questions - Normal stuff Time/Work, Time Speed Distance or Word Problems.
5-8 Questions - Moderate difficulty from Permutation combination, Probability, Numbers.
2-5 - Reasoning .
5-8 Questions - Difficult in Numbers or Probability Permutation combination or Geometry.
2-3 GOD only knows questions (like involving Lucas Series Golden Ratio) - If you are lucky you will just get one question.
Some of the questions I've got like:
1) Sum of the series(1*1!+2*2!+3*3!+.......................................+2012*2012!)
2) Next term in the series 11,23,47,83,131,...
3) Three dice are rolled. What is the probability that you will get the sum of the numbers as 10?
4) A number is divided by 5,2 and 3 successively in order to get remainders of 0,1, and 2 respectively. What will be the remainders when the same number is divided by 2,3 and 5 respectively?
5) How many vehicle registration plate numbers can be formd with digits 1,2,3,4,5 (no digit being repeated)if it's given that registration number can have 1 to 5 digits ?
6) A merchant buys 20kg of wheat at Rs.30.00 per kg and 40kg wheat at Rs.25.00 per kg. He mixes them and sell one third of the mixture at Rs.26.00 per kg. The price at which the merchant should sell the remaining mixture so that he may earn a profit of 25% on his whole outlay is ?
I've cleared my written test and made to sit for interview. Where I've had a panel of interviewers and it followed like
Me : Good evening sir.
Interviewer : Good evening and your name is?
Me : Sartheek sir.
Interviewer : Tell me about yourself ?
Me : Sir, myself.... blah blah blah.
Interviewer : What are your weakness and strengths ?
Me : Explained.
Interviewer : Tell me about your project ?
Me : Explained.
Interviewer: What are your hobbies ?
Interviewer : Why TCS?
Don't give silly answers that your well eligible for the company.. Instead try something new so that you can inspire him to take you into the company.
And one final question made by HR to test me.
Interviewer: You've done your B.Tech in electronics and now M.Tech in Embedded system, then what on earth made you to opt for software engineering.
Me: Explained cleverly for which he felt very much satisfied.
And that's it... They wished me good luck and I left from there hoping for the best...My interview carried for over 20 min nearly.
Next day in the evening they announced the results and I'm the most happiest person at that instant because I was one among them.
My suggestion during interview is don't get stressed even if they make you.. keep smiling, be confident on whatever you speak even if it is not right...they won't mind if you are wrong but they check whether your confident and strong enough to make it through or not.
I hope my experience may help you and I wish all the very best for those who are aiming to get into TCS. Hardwork and dedication will get you past the hurdles. Thank you all.. :).
