SATYAM GD & INTERVIEW - 29 OCT 2006 - MATHURA

Hi Friends

I am Harsh Tandon a student of  A.B.E.S. ENGG. COLLEGE, I am doing my B.Tech from Electronics and Instrumentation branch. I am very happy to tell u that i have got placed in Satyam Computers ltd. I am writing my experience of GD and Interview with some VERY USEFUL TIPS.

GROUP DISCUSSION
My topic was Should mobile phones be banned in colleges or not ?

Few very important points to remember

1 GD IS ALL ABOUT TEAM WORK, SO EVERY ONE SHOULD GET A CHANCE TO SPEAK. (THE MOST IMP. POINT)

2 ALWAYS TRY TO INITIATE A GD BUT ONLY IF U HAVE THE CONTENT.

3 AVOID ONE TO ONE DISCUSSION i.e MAINTAIN A GOOD EYE CONTACT.

4 DONT LOOK AT THE OBSERVER (Satyam person) DURING THE GD.

5 IF FISH MARKET IS CREATED AND NO ONE IS LISTENING TO U SPEAK LOUDER AND TELL THEM AS MENTIONED BELOW

In my case our observer gave us a time of 1 minute to think. but someone initiated after 10 seconds  (THIS MAY BE TAKEN AS A NEGATIVE POINT). After this the rest of 8 people also started putting their points forward. They created a fish market. I was not been able to speak as no one was ready to listen. After that I controlled the GD by saying "LOOK FREINDS ITS A GD AND OUR MOTTO IS TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION AND WE CAN NOT DO THAT WE IF WE WILL CONTINUE LIKE THIS, EVERY ONE SHOULD GET A CHANCE TO SPEAK SO LETS SPEAK ONE BY ONE" every one agreed and started listening to each other.

INTERVIEW

Mine was a stressed interview
int: harsh what is ur father doing?
me: sir, he is a senior controller in NTPC badarpur
int: is he an engg.
me: yes sir
int: so thats why u joined engg.?
me: no sir, i thout that its a very innovative field and it will suit me.

The Questions Asked are:
Q what is attitude?
Q what is achievement?
Q what is uav? (my project)
Q why is ur %graph so low?
Q then asked me the capitals of maharashtra, kerala, u.p, united states, japan, austalia, u.k etc
Q how many inches are there in a foot?
Q how many cm in an inch?
Q as i was unable to tell some of the capitals of India (he asked me that u dont know anything about Indian literature how will u represent Satyam abroad?
Q he also asked me the name of stadiums in Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Mohali (as cricket is my hobby)

Good communication skills and confidence is what they r looking for. So be prepared u cannot be confident if u r not well prepared. Be prepared for questions like
why software as u r from electronics field?
why Satyam?
tell abt urself?
