Infosys Interview Experience - 18th September 2015
My name is Tryambak Chatterjee and I had my aptitude test on the 18th of September 2015 as Infosys came to our College (West Bengal University of Technology) for placement. The Question Pattern for the aptitude test is as follows:-
1. Reasoning Ability: 15 questions, 25 minutes.
2. Quantitative Aptitude: 10 questions, 35 minutes.
3. Verbal Ability: 40 questions, 35 minutes.
There is sectional cut-off and there is no negative marking. You can skip questions and flag them and return back to them at a later point of time. I would advice this as this can help you answer the sure shot and easy questions easily and helps in managing time.
Examples of few types of questions are given as follows:
1. An entire passage describing certain constraints. Then options are present based on deductions from the given constraints.
2. Data interpretation.
3. Mathematical problems includes simple Ratio , permutation and probability problems.
4. Comprehension passages.
5. Correct the underlined statement.
6. Sentence Completion.
The next day I had my Interview. As my name was called out, I entered with a smile on my face.
The HR seemed to be a very friendly person as he shook my hands and then greeted me ( I did the same) and told me to be seated.
HR: You have an Interesting name. What does it mean?
HR: Ok tell me about yourself.
ME: Told. (Always try to highlight your strengths and keep that smile intact and try not to fumble).
HR: You did an interesting project on Ethical Hacking. Can u elaborate on what you did?
ME: Told the main parts of my project and highlighted how it was beneficial.
HR: What is Fake Login?
HR: Hoe does backtracking work over torrents?
HR: So tell me , you have my IP Address, can you get into my email account?
ME: Told. ( I wasn't entirely sure about the process, so I just described what I think would have worked.)
HR: ( Seemed happy with my answer), You have worked on Android, what is decompilation and recompilation of apks?
ME: Answered in full detail. Including creation of deodexed files, smali files and so on.
HR: Very nice. What type of outdoor games do you play? (All of my listed hobbies were indoor ones).
ME: I used to learn cricket and was coached. Had to leave due to health reasons and explained thereafter. ( Make sure you have something which is not mentioned in your CV).
HR: Who is favourite in Tennis?
Some other standard questions were asked. Then finally :
HR: Do you have any questions?
ME: Sir, the Infosys Training is for 4-6 weeks. Why is the variation present there?
HR: See its all about passing certain exams which may take time. Once you pass them , you are free to join in. Since you are from CSE background, you shouldn't worry about it at all.
HR: No more questions?
ME: Asked how can an individual learn from such a big company ?
HR: Told the answer.
HR: Very nice talking to you Tryambak. Have a nice day.
ME: It was a pleasure talking to you too Sir. Have a great day.
I left with a smile. And a cold drinks in my hand. (He actually gave it to me midway during the interview).
The results were declared. Only 19 people were selected among a strength of over 70. ( I don't know the exact value). I was one of them.
The strategy is simple. Once you clear the aptitude test, you are almost in. The interview is very simple. Time management and being cautious about the sectional cut-off is necessary. For Interview, it doesn't matter if you don't know an answer, just tell no. They are experienced enough to see if you are bluffing.
