Infosys limited Interview Experience - Chennai, December 29, 2014

Posted By : Srikumar Rating : +376, -5
Hi everyone,

This is Srikumar from ECE dept. I am in my final year. The interview was conducted by anna university(off campus). It was held in GKM college, perungalathur. We all know that for an off campus drive plenty of students will be appearing. It happened. More than 1500 students were present. The eligibility criteria was quite high- CGPA-7.8+; No standing arrears; Min of 75% in 10th,12th. The environment was good. Let me share the experience now.

First round: Aptitude.

Clearing aptitude is easy. But, we have a sectional cut-off. You need not be an expert in math. Yes, believe me. Everything was logical. There will be puzzles, lot of twists and lengthy questions. You can solve everything if you use your mind. Time is more than sufficient for all the 3 sections. Questions will be tricky but you need not worry about that if you have the patience and ability to make use of your mind. Use your scratch paper to the best. Do not believe in mind calculations. After completing this round, we were sent home and the results were published in the Anna university website.

Results were as expected. Out of 1500+ students, only 159 cleared this aptitude round, which is less than 10% of the overall. Numbers were less but Infosys is known for its conversion rate, If you clear this round, you are almost in. Just keep one thing in mind : Sectional cut off will be there. So, concentrate equally in all the sections. All the best :).

Second round: Technical+ HR round.

This was held on 30th dec and all the 159 students assembled in GKM college @ 8:30 am. The facilities provided were excellent and it gave us relief from the mild pressure which every one had ( May be due to the mass rejection in the aps round).

I was allotted panel 4. The time was 1:45pm. The waiting time will be annoying but the name INFOSYS will make this feeling vanish. My interview lasted for 25 minutes. I entered the panel and the HR was very friendly. The conversation which we had is given below.

Me: Excuses sir!

HR: Yes. Come in.
Me: (Entered) Good Noon Sir!

HR: Good noon! Take your seat.
Me: Thank you sir. (sat).

HR: So, you are here after clearing the aptitude. Tell me how the round was.
Me: Yes sir. Aptitude was easy as it had nothing to do with the formulae.

HR: Oh is it? Then I have to ask you something related to formulae it seems.
Me: ( I felt, OMG I have landed myself in trouble :P) Yes sir. You can! (Though I never wanted him to ask).

HR: Which movie you saw this week?
Me: I am a die hard fan of superstar. I saw Linga this week.

HR: Good. You liked the movie?
Me: Definitely. But, the climax was unbelievable.

HR: Why so? How can you say it unbelievable? Just because you were not able to believe?

Me: Yes sir. Rajni sir jumped from the mountain and landed on the top of hot air balloon. Since the balloon is unstable and the distance is unknown, it is impossible for a man to predict the bike speed and jump accurately.

HR: Hmm ok. Let the hot air balloon be at a distance of 100 metres. What should be the speed of the bike to land on the top? Assume that the balloon is stable.

Me: We all know the formula for calculating speed. S=D/T. Since D=100m, S=100/T. Give me the time T sir, I will calculate the speed.

HR: No. I will not give you the time.

Me: In that case, S is directly proportional to D sir. When D increases, S will also increase.

HR: You forgot to mention about gravity man! I expected an engineer to answer my question related to gravity.

Me: (OOPS! I am out :P) Yes sir. I forgot. Sorry.

HR: (Laughs) Its ok. Show me your resume. Let me see that.
Me: (Gave him).

HR: You explain about your project.
Me: (Explained. I spoke for about 4 minutes).

HR: I am satisfied with your project.
Me: (Hurray!!! ) Thanks a lot, sir.

HR: Give me the output of these. (He gave me 2 basic C programs).
Me: Explained.

HR: Tell me about antennas.
Me: (In my resume, I have mentioned Antennas as my area of interest). Explained.

HR: Fine. Do you have any questions for me?
Me: I want to know the area(s) in which I need improvement sir.

HR: Just concentrate on basics like gravity (Laughs) and do your exams well.
Me: Sure sir :)

HR: Nice to meet you Srikumar. (Shakes hand)
Me: Nice to meet you too sir :)

HR: We will get back to you soon.
Me: Thank you sir.

That's it. Around 5 pm we got our results and I got selected. Out of 159 students, 114 got selected. Infosys will test your communication and confidence. Nothing more than that. Even if you do not know the answers, say them frankly and ask them " Can I know the answer for that sir?" If you clear your aptitude test, you are IN. ALL THE BEST GUYS. HAVE FUN :)

Thank you!
