Infosys Interview Experience - Hyderabad, October 27th
I have attended Infosys referral drive conducted in the month of October 2014 at Sridevi College, Hyderabad. The online test was held on 25th October and Interview process for the shortlisted candidates was held on 27th october. First of all let me give a brief idea about the pattern of written test and then I will move on with my interview experience.
Written test :
This is the main elimination round of Infosys. Once you clear this round you will have every chance of getting selected. Coming to the pattern, the written test has three sections.
First section : Analytical reasoning.
This section has 15 sections and the time allotted will be 25 minutes. Mostly one will get 5 questions from Syllogisms which can be solved by having some basic knowledge about that and five questions from Data interpretation which involves some calculation and five from Data sufficiency which will be moderate.
Second section: Arithmetic.
This section has 10 questions and time allotted is 35 minutes. Guys you will have enough time to solve all those questions they won't be tough just be prepared with quant basics and also practice some cryptarithmetic problems you may get a question from that. So by proper practice you can nail this section.
Third section: Verbal Ability.
Here comes the toughest part of this written test verbal ability. I termed it as toughest only because of the less time given for this sections. You will have 40 questions which have to be answered in 35 minutes. The questions were from Error detection and Correction, Theme detection, Sentence completion and two reading comprehensions.
So, one should work hard in Verbal to overcome the time constraint.
Each section has its own sectional cut off. So every section should be attempted with equal priority to clear the respective cutoffs.
So after giving my written test on 25th I got a mail on the very next day informing that I have cleared the test and invited for the interview process which is conducted on 27th october.
I barely had time to revise all the subjects and prepare for the interview. So I just revised some basics of C and other subjects and my academic projects. Next day morning my slot was at 8 30 am, but I had to wait for 6 hours for my turn. I waited patiently and finally I was called for interview at 2:30 pm.
Me: May I come in sir.
Int: Yes come in.
Me: Good afternoon sir.
Int: Good afternoon, please take your seat.
(I left all my originals back home so I didn't have a file in my hand so I went into the room with empty hands)
Int: You are so different from others right?
Me: (I was stunned by that question for a while I didn't understand the reason behind that question) but I managed to come up with a positive reply.
Int: You came in empty handed while others were carrying files with them so I thought you were different from others.
Me: I explained the reason beyond that.
Int: So tell me about yourself.
Int: (scanning at my photocopy of marksheets). You were poor at Chemistry right?
Me: I said, I didn't get good score because of some ill health.
Int: Nah you even got less marks in your second year don't lie (he said this with a smile on his face)
Me: Yeah little bit poor in Organic Chemistry.
Then the interviewer laughed.
Int: Why Infosys wants to hire you?
Me: I came up with some convincing reply but he is not convinced and he added few points what I should mention. I nodded my head.
Int: Why Infosys?
Me: (this is question I was waiting for, I prepared well to answer that so I had a big smile on my face before answering that)
Seeing the reaction he said you seem so happy about the fact that you were getting all the questions which you have prepared well and laughed.
Me: I came up with a reply and then answered his question he seems to be convinced with my answer.
Int: Okay explain me about your project and your role.
Me: I explained him every detail and my role.
Int: (after seeing my resume) asked to write a complex code in C giving some input about that.
Me: I managed to come up with some logic but he is not convinced and asked shall I skip and I agreed.
Then he asked simple C program and I wrote it in a Flash.
Then he went back from Technical zone and asked what I have done in past few months,
what interviews I have attended in past and about my college and its placements and about my less EAMCET rank and asked about my family details with some humor added in between.
Finally he said, he is done and asked any more questions?
I asked about the training program.
He explained each and everything in detail about the training procedure.
And after that suddenly he said I'll ask one last hypothetical question and I agreed
If Infosys offers you this job at 1.5 lpa package are you ready to do the job?
I answered it on a positive note in a convincing manner.
And he asked about, what my friends were doing and who else is attending the interview
from my college and wished me good luck after answering that.
He said me to leave.
He reminded me and called me back about the pen, I forgot there, I came back and collected it and left the room.
Overall the interview went well and as far as I have observed they won't ask too much technical stuff, they will just look at our confidence and communication skills.
So its not hard to crack the interview and less number of people will face elimination at this stage.
So finally after waiting for 20 long days for my result I got the Offer letter on 19th November.
Ps: Dont lose your heart, if you have not selected. I was rejected by TCS first and now I got selected in Infosys, so work hard till you succeed, a failure will be always followed by a success if you work hard.
All the best to everyone :)
