INFOSYS INTERVIEW - 19 FEB 2008 - NOIDA

My name  is Vaibhav Gupta. I am 3rd yr. student of Electronics &  Communication Engineering from IEC College of Engineering & Technology  Greater Noida.
   
INFOSYS  came to our campus for the recruitment of 3rd yr. students on 19th Feb. 2008.

10th-60%
   
12th-60%
   
Only 1(one)  live back is allowed.
   

   
We had  been told to report at IEC-CET at 8:30 a.m. on 19th Feb.
   
First the  HR head of the INFOSYS team gave us a paper presentation (PPT) of about one and a half hour. Don’t miss it, it’s really very  good and motivate u a lot. Keep a paper and pen with you and note the entire  imp. Points that the HR told you during PPT is helpful to you for the HR  interview.
   

   
After  that, around 11:30 a.m. we gave our written test which  comprises of two section LR (logical  reasoning) and English section. For the written exam the pattern was  exactly same as u can get the pattern from others experience, so let’s not  waste any time of yours and mine too, I am now focusing myself on the HR  interview.
   
Result of  the written exam was declared at 6p.m.  64 students out of around 450 of my college IEC were short listed. I  was amongst the lucky 64 students.
   
Immediately  after that, they told us to be grouped in a class where they were calling us one  by one for the interview. There were 10 panels where the interviews are going  on. My turn came at around 08:45 p.m. And my interview goes on like  this……….

S: Yes, please  come in.
   
(As I was just standing in front  of him, he said)
   
S: Be seated
   
M: Thank  you sir
   
S: Please  give me the copy of your resume.
   
M: Yes  sir (I gave him))
   
S: Tell  me something about your family.
   
M: blah  blah…………….
   
S: Your  birthday is on 03rd Sep?
   
M: Yes  sir
   
S:  So when is Teacher’s day celebrated?
   
M:  Sir 5th Sep
   
S: Why is  it so? Why it is not celebrated on 6th, 7th?
   
M:  Because it is the birthday of Mr. Lal baha………………..sorry sir I forget the name  sir.
   
S: Its  Dr. Radhakrishnan’s birthday. [color="#FFFFFF"]
   
M: Yes  sir, that’s correct
   
S: You  are living in MIG flats (written in  resume)?
   
M: Yes  sir
   
S: What  is the meaning of MIG flats here?
   
M: Sorry  sir I don’t know but I can explain the infrastructure of the flats.
   
S: No,  tell me the full form.
   
M: Sorry  sir.
   
S: It’s  the “Middle Income Group” (MIG)
   
M: Ok sir
   
S: Your  hobbies?
   
M: blah  blah……………
   
S: Last  movie u has seen?
   
M: Goal
   
S: What  is the thing that most inspires you in the movie?
   
M: blah  blah………..
   
S: Tell  me something about your sports activities.
   
M: (as I  have written in my resume) blah blah blah…….
   
(And general questions were asked me from my  resume, so be careful while preparing your resume. Go through it once again and  once again)
   

   
S: Tell  me which newspaper do you read?
 M: TOI
   
S: Which  part?
 M: basically the front page but roughly go through the whole paper.
   
S: Tell  me any three recent news?
   
M: blah  blah………………..
   
S: Ok  tell me what is volume of this bottle in front of you?
   
M: Its  1ltr sir
   
S: Are  you sure?
   
M: (Confidently) yes sir
   
S: Ok  tell me the height of this room in meters?
   
M: Around  3.8 to 4.5 meters
   
S: How  can you be so sure in points? How can you say 3.8m to 4.8m?
   
M: Sir I  have told you earlier that I have been the vice captain of my school’s  basketball’s team so the height of the basket is around 3.5m and it is looking slightly  higher than this, that’s why I said this.
   
S: (impressed……..) it is a good way to  analyze
   
M: Thank  u sir.
   
(Again some general questions and questions from  my resume)

 My interview is for about 15-20 min and I  thought it was good. At around 11:45 p.m. my name was announced amongst the  55 luckiest students who got an offer from INFOSYS. I think that was the  happiest day of my life, we all were screaming, hugging and congratulating each  other.
   
Friends  really it’s not that much hard as it seems to you. Just believe in “GOD” and  yourself and always keep one thing in mind that “I can do it and I will”.
   
I had  decided that if I was selected in INFY then definitely I will share my  experience with others because
