Ericsson Interview Experience - JIIT 27 Jan 2017

Posted By : Veer Vikram Rating : +23, -1
Ericsson visited our college for campus placement on 27 Jan 2017. I'm from JUET, Guna but all the sister universities avail the centralized placements at Noida campus so I was at JIIT. The placement drive consisted of 3 rounds namely the written test, Technical interview and the HR interview.

First Round was the aptitude test. It had 3 parts i.e. quantitative, logical reasoning & verbal. It had 45 questions for 45 minutes. For quant practice a lot from R.S. Agarwal & IndiaBix, it's good enough. If you've already completed the book then go for mock tests at testpot.com, it will really help to practice completing test in the time frame. This test had question from quant questions from trains, time & distance, heights, time &  work, profit & loss, %, calendar, numbers, HCF & LCM, Ratio proportion & boats streams. Along with the main topics, some question were rather miscellaneous i.e. I don't know which topic they belonged as I had never tried them earlier but they were okay-ish, not so difficult. Logical had question had general questions from series, classification, people sitting in circles, puzzles, etc. Verbal Ability was easy enough if you remember the basic grammar techniques it would be a cake walk, even if you have watched the English TV series carefully you would do good. There were antonyms synonyms and believe me there's no use practising them, I tried memorising as many words as I can in the past 3 months and still every time in any placement test the words are still new.

Result came in 4 hrs, I sailed through. We were called for the next round in 10 minutes after the declaration of results.

Second round was technical Interview. So the convo went like this:-

Me (M): Good evening Sir.
Interviewer (I): Good evening have a seat.
*took

I : Introduce yourself.
M: *did.

I: Ok veer so tell me how many languages you know?
M: C/C++ & JAVA.

I: What are the core concepts of JAVA (or any other OOPS language)?
M: Polymorphism, Abstraction, Encapsulation & inheritance.

I: Ok so if I have to make some variable of a class invisible to anything outside class what would I do?
M: *told him about private & protected.

I: What is encapsulation?
M: *told.

I: (Then he cross-questioned something packages which I didn't know then he asked) What are packages?
M: Sir, I'm more proficient at C++.

I: Okay so you have to make a program which read a line from a file & store it in a database how would you do that?
M: *told.

I: Okay so you know about DBMS? tell me what is DBMS?
M: *told.

I: You have to make a database where you would store phone numbers, names & credentials of a user how would you do that?
I: What do you know about Ericsson?
I: Suppose you have a team where some person knows something and other know something else & they have different shifts at office then how would you manage that?
I : Tell me about your 4th year  Project.
I: Tell me how the transmission receiver works.
I: Okay do you have any question to ask?
I: OK Veer I'm selecting you for the next round you may proceed.

Then the third round was the HR round, Immediately I was called for the interview by a volunteer. Reached the interviewer table and gave her my CV.
M: Good evening Ma'am.

I: Good evening have a seat.
I: How are you Veer?
M: I'm fine ma'am.
Actually, I'm very good.
Actually, ma'am, I've never been better.

I:  So you're confused.
M: No ma'am I'm just too excited to be here, I was looking forward to joining Ericsson since a long time and now I'm quite near to fulfilling my dream so I'm quite excited.

I: How many companies' placements have you attended?
M: 7 Ma'am.

I: Which companies?
M: *told.

I: That's good so tell me what do you know about Ericsson?
I: How many members are there in your home.
I: What does your mother do?
I: Which schools you attended?
(Now looking at my CV)
I: What's MATLAB?
I: What's Arduino?
I: So you did your internship at Power Grid what did you learn there?
I: What did you learn from your training at HP?
I: What is an Optical Network. (I did my internship learning power grid's optic fibre network)
I: Tell me about your projects written here.
I: What kind of music do you like (I had listened to music as a hobby in CV)
I: If some other company offers you a better package for what would you do?
M: Ma'am Ericsson is the industry leader in telecom sector, in India, I don't think there's any other company I'd like to work more for than Ericsson. It's the best place to apply my knowledge & increase it learning new developments/researches happing in the company

I: Are you okay with relocation?
I: We would be providing with compensation of 3.45 lakhs are you fine with it?

I: You would have to sign an agreement for 18 months and you won't be able to leave during that time, breach of agreement would cost you 1.5 lakhs are you fine with that?
I: Do you have any question for me?
I: Ok Veer we're done here, thank you.

At our campus, it was a 2 days process, so interviews went on for the next day too. Results were declared around 5-30 pm on 28th. I was selected & phone calls to family followed.
