Cognizant Technology Solution Interview Experience - 22 & 26 September, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri
1. Aptitude Test.
2. Technical Interview.
3. HR Interview.
Aptitude was taken by "MeritTrack" on 22nd. There were 25 questions for verbal section and 25 questions for logical section and there was also sectional cutoffs. The time limit for each section was 25 minutes.
After the test, they took an Induction in which the company policy, Salary and similar other things were told. After that, the result of Aptitude test was announced. Out of 181, 118 students successfully cleared the test. I was one of them.
After this, they visited our campus on 26th for technical interview. On the 26th morning they called again for document verification and after that around 5 o'clock the interview started,It was a 1-1 interview. I was called around 8'O clock.
- Tell me about yourself Avik. Told.
- What is the recent project you are working on?
This was a surprising question for me as I had not much idea about my final year project that is in Big data. So I told about my project which I had done in my "Internship".
After that, there was a rapid fire round of questions on software engineering, numerical methods, and Operating systems. I was not understanding anything because those things were not given in my CV. So I was continuously answering "I don't know sir".
After that, the interviewer told: "You have already read these subjects right"?
I said yes sir.
Interviewer: "Then why are you not able to answer these questions.
I said, sir, these subjects were not my subject of interest.
Then he told as a CSE student you must have knowledge about software engineering Avik.
I said yes sir I will be able to learn things in details as per the requirement of the company. But as I have done projects on Java and Database Management Systems I am confident on programming language algorithms and Database.
He said ok and then asked me questions from basics of DBMS like how many types of joins, normal forms, SQL query to make-out the 2nd highest salary from an employee table etc. And from data structure he asked me about the complexity of merge and heap sort. Which will be the best sort. These things were asked. After that, he told me, thank you. I shook my hand with him and was told to wait at our gallery.
After 5 minutes I was told that "you are selected for the next round" and was taken to the HR room. The maximum students were rejected in this round. Only 55 out of 118 were selected.
In HR, the Sir was very frank and asked me several questions about me,my family, my past life, my ambitions, etc. Finally, he asked me whether I had any questions or not. I said "when I can join sir"?.
He told after the total selection process if you are selected you will get to know that. After that, He shook his hand with me with a great smile.
Generally, If you clear the Technical round you are 99% selected.In our college out of 55, 53 was finally selected and thank god I was one of them. It was my 1st interview experience.
Guys In CTS the verbal aptitude comes in moderate level. But for that practice in IndiaBix. For interview prepare basics. Be confident and positive. I was not able to answer all the questions but still I was confident. That will really matter. Hope you will do well in your interview. Thanks to IndiaBix.
