BIRLASOFT PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 13 OCT 2009 - DELHI
This was a campus drive held on 13th Oct at Maharaja Surajmal Institute (Janakpuri, Delhi).
There were 4 rounds::
1: Written:- It had a lot of technical questions from Java core..n some English and very few Maths questions. There was no negative marking..
Results were announced like 4 hours later.. list of students who cleared was finally put up.
2: Second round was Group Discussion:- around 10-12 people in each group.
Some of the topics were:
# does India need dictatorship?
# open book examination
# nuclear family versus joint
mine was # pros and cons of dating
Here, thankfully ours was not a fish market discusion.. but still I had to struggle to be heard, people really dont let you speak and very smartly so...
# never be aggressive but be assertive..
# listen to others... n allow others to speak as well..
# when you get the chance to speak-bring out some real good points into the discussion
# one thing that somehow people dont know-during a group discussion, you never have to take a stand like you need to in debates. in group discussion you just discuss-impact, adv disadv etc...
# another very important thing-you never have to look at the panel during the discussion you only have to look at the group do your discussion with them..
# avoid one to one
Its result was announced at 9 p.m and for further evaluation we had to go to Birlasoft-Noida office after a days gap... The office was nice, too far though... anyway so firstly there was a Technical round:
I was made to feel very comfortable..
I was asked-
1. about myself
2. why my scores showed decline from school to college
3. description of my project that I did during college
4. if i had any placement so far
5. difference between procedure and function
6. difference between unique key and primary key
7. some questions on probability
8. asked me to write the code for declaring a structure in C++
some other questions I dont remember..they were all basic..
This was also an elimination round.. The results were announced after a few hours..
4: this was supposed to be my HR Round.
I was asked about myself.. my resume was scrutinised.. I had filled a form with questions like- why birlasoft? career goals? describe about yourself? strength n weaknesses? I had written some weakness, the interviewer derived like 6-7 major weaknesses from this mention! I was really amused ! he said stuff like-you dont know how to manage your time, you dont have patience etc etc.. he wasnt rude at all... he was saying all this to check my reaction... this was funny.. I tried to contradict his derivations... but I dint try to be aggressive n I smiled during this interrogation.. I was actually amused but I gave proper explanations that I dint have all those weaknesses.. dunno how convinced he was.. then very politely he told me to prioritise n stuff tht d help me..:)
Moving on.. he asked me some maths questions-probability, water tank questions.. he asked me some random questions like is steel a conductor of electricity, silvr etc.. n why / why not... asked me about my career goals... some other questions.. from my project...(technical), but very basic ones. then he gave me a question in C++. I had to write the code.. I took time was making minor mistakes... he was very patient.. finally after a lot of stupid corrections I wrote the correct code. he asked me if I was nervous cuz he knew I cud answer faster thn tht.. lolz! anyway... finally he said he was happy th the interview... n when I was out I realized some 3 ppl were done with their interviews while I was sitting inside for my looong interview! finally, I was given the offer letter that day itself. Thankfully.!:)
