The following pie charts exhibit the distribution of the overseas tourist traffic from India. The two charts shows the tourist distribution by country and the age profiles of the tourists respectively.

See 25%(or 1/4) of 20% will be =5% Now see,Given in ques that 25%(of 20%)is 5%=25lakh according to swiss record then how much will be the 15%(30-39yrs shown in 2nd graph), it so simple if 5% is 25lakh then 15% will be 75 lakh(means 3 times). Got it? |

In question, pi chart is for traffic from India and according to pi chart 20% of Indians go to other countries except USA, Japan and UK. And, in question Switzerland accounted 25%. Since, it is an other country so it must be of 25% out of 20%. In explanation "20% from other countries to Swiss" but in given pi chart "20% from India to other countries". There is a contradiction between these two statements. So according to me the solution will be:- X Indians to abroad. 20% of X to other countries means 0.2X 25% of other countries(0.2X) to Swiss means 25% of .2X= 25 lakh X=(25*100)/.2*25 lakh X=5 crore. |

Let the total population of India= x. Now, (20% of x) went abroad= (20/100*x) = (x/5). Now, (25% of x/5) went to Switz= (25/100*x/5) = (x/20). Now, given 25lacs people visited Switz. Thus, x/20=25lacs. X=5Crores. Now, Among them 15% are 30-39 year old Indian tourists who went abroad in That year. Thus, (15% of 5Crores) = 75Lacs. |

It was fine up to X=5 crores. 'X' being the total population of India. But to find the number of 30-39 year old Indian tourists who went abroad in that year it should be. 20% of 15% of X. That is 20/100*15/100*50000000 = 15 lakhs. |

Among all the population going to switzerland, 25% is indian i.e. 25 lakhs. Now, from pie chart 1; 20% correspond to 25 lakhs. So, 100% will be 25*5= 125 lakhs. It is known that only 15% population is between 30-39 age group, So, 15% of 125 lakhs gives 18.75 lakhs. |

In the question 20% are from others. Therefore in the question it is given that from 25% 20% go to Switzerland and it is given in the question 25L goes to Switzerland. Hence 25% of 20% of x = 2500000. x = 500. And 30-39 is 15%. Hence 15% of 500 = 75 lakh. |

As per the question:. Let Total Indian who went abroad be a variable = INDIANS. Given, 20% (Others), means 20% of the total Indian who Went aboard. , i.e. 20/100 * INDIANS. Amongst other countries, Switzerland accounted for 25% of the Indian tourist traffic means= 25% of 20% of INDIANS= (25/100) * (20/100) * INDIANS = 5% * INDIANS = 25 Lakhs. To Find Number of (30-39) year old Indian who went abroad out of Total Indians. ie (15 % INDIANS). Solution: 5% of INDIANS = 25 Lakhs. 15% of INDIANS = (25/5%) * 15% = (25 * 15) /5 = 75 Lakhs. |

As in the question. Amoungst other Countries (20%) swiss acounts 25% Tourist= 25% of 20%=5% which is 25 Lakhs. And % of 30-39 years old Indians who went abroad is 15%=X 5:15=25:X. X=15x25/5. =75 Lakhs. |

In my way of solving; Other country have 20% of indian tourist. Switzerland have 25% of Indian tourist from 20% of other countries have. Swiss record says 25 lakh Indian tourist is in Switzerland. So,20 % of other country have 100 lakh, Indian tourist. And 100% have 500 lakh Indian tourist. Indian who went abroad whose age is 30 -39 are 15%. So, 15% of 500 lakh is 75 lakh. |

In the question, they mentioned that "If amongst <other countries>, Switzerland accounted for 25% of the Indian tourist traffic". It means that the 25%of the Indian tourist traffic to Switzerland is in 20% of the Indian tourist traffic to the other countries. So the actual Indian tourist traffic to Switzerland is 25%of 20% i.e., 0.25*20 = 5%. That 5% is equal to 25lakh people. By that we can know that the total people went abroad that year are 5 crores. In that 5crore 30-39 years, age Indian tourists are 15% that means 0.15*5crore = 75 lakhs. |
