Here there are two series.

One is odd position numbers like 5, 6, 7, 8 (but here 9).
And even position numbers 16, 16, 16 which are repeating.
So, clearly seen that the number 9 is odd here.

Explain with a simple example.

This could also be a logic:-
5+11 = 16.
16-10 = 6,
6+10 = 16,
16-9 = 7,
7+9 = 16,
16-8 = 8.
But in the question, we have 7 in place of 8. Hence the wrong one is 7.

The logic of the series is; +11, -10, +10, -9, +9, -8.

6 can be an answer because except 6 remaining are prime after removing 16.

Am I right?

Here 6 is also can be taken as the wrong answer as there are only odd numbers 5, 7, 9. Then how can we predict only 9 is the wrong answer?

Could anybody explain me?

Terms 5,16,6,16,7,16,9
as that check out every odd places increasing by 1 (5,6,7..)
the next number should be 8 ...so instead of 8 they had given 9 so,by this we can pick 9 as odd number out from the given series

Terms at odd places are 5, 6, 7, 9 etc. and each term at even place is 16.Here 5,7,9 are odd but 6 is even.

So, 6 is wrong.
