We can write 29.94/1.45 as 2994/145 (by mul with 10 both numerator and denominator).
Then, 2994/145 can be written as 2994/(14.5 x 10) or (2994/14.5)x(1/10)------(A)
Given that 2994/14.5 = 172.
So replace 2994/14.5 with 172 in (A)
172 x (1/10) = 17.2

you can divide directly but we have no use out of it, you can find the mistakes in the following steps .
Look you have made 1 mistake in the 2 step,ie.,
2994/14.5 is wrong( you have understood the question wrongly)
2994/1.45 is given in the question.(we want 2994/14.5 so i have multiplied & divided with 10 in the next next step. i wil work for you
29.94/1.45*10/10=299.4/14.5,
299.4/14.5*10/10=(2994/14.5)*1/10(multiplied Nr with 10)
